Intermediate Course

Qualifications:

Graduation in science and with work experience of 5 to 10 years as a Meteorological Technician

Period and Location:

4 months at Pune and New Delhi centres

Main Objective:

To train Assistant Forecasters who can support Forecasters in the preparation and dissemination of analyses, forecast, warnings and other weather-related information.

• Dynamic Meteorology
• Physical Meteorology  : Thermodynamics, Radiation and Cloud Physics
• Meteorological Statistics
• Climatology
• Climatology
• Synoptic Meteorology : Synoptic Analysis, Tropical Meteorology, Synoptic Models, Extra-tropical Meteorology, Weather Forecasting
• Aeronautical Meteorology
• Practical Work in Weather Analysis and Forecasting

Mode of Evaluation of Performance:

Examinations are held once in the middle of the course (Mid - Term Examination) and again at the end of the course (Final Examination). At the time of the final examination, candidates are interviewed by a board of officers and marks are allotted for this viva voce examination also.

The marks obtained in the mid term examination and for class work are counted towards the final result and evaluation. Certificates are issued in due course to the candidates on successful completion of examination.
