Ab-Initio One-year Meteorologist Gr-II Course in General Meteorology
(For Direct Recruit Group A candidates of IMD)
Qualifications:
New entrant Post graduates in Physics, Mathematics, Agriculture, Electronics, etc. through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.
Period and Location:
12 months at Pune (CTI)
Main Objective:
To train Forecasters for analyses, forecasts, warnings and other weather-related information.

On-The-Job Training (OJT)
Trainees have to take a research project under the supervision of a member of faculty and project will be evaluated and marks allotted.

Mode of Evaluation of Performance:
Separate examination is carried out in each theoretical paper and practical paper mentioned above at the end of each phase. The result of each term is declared at the end of Phase C. The performance in OJT is also evaluated. The appointment of the trainees in the cadre of meteorologist grade II, in IMD, is subject to the completion of this training course
