The Sensor used for measurement of wind direction is an IMD make potentiometric wind vane. The potentiometer in the wind vane is a servo microtorque potentiometer and has a maximum resistance of 10 K Ohm over an end gap of about 4 Deg.
The potentiometer is coupled to the wind vane shaft so as to give a resistance output decreasing linearly with the wind direction increasing. Thus 10 K Ohm corresponds to north, 7.5 K Ohm corresponds to east, 5 K Ohm corresponds to south and 2.5 K Ohm corresponds to west. 0-360 degrees corresponds to 0-10 K Ohm
